Edward de Maesschalck is ook voorzitter van de afgestudeerde historici van Leuven. In 2003 verscheen eveneens bij Davidsfonds/Leuven zijn boek Overleven in de revolutietijd over de getuigenis van pruikenmaker en later postbode J.B. de geschiedenis van België, de Bond van grote en jonge gezinnen, het Davidsfonds en ook een roman over de laatste levensjaren van zijn overleden vrouw (Sterven is een kunst). Zijn belangstelling blijft daarbij steeds uitgaan naar historische programma’s, zowel documentaires (‘Histories’, ‘Het Derde Oog’) als historische fictie.Īls auteur schreef hij heel wat historische boeken over o.a. In 1996 werd hij programma-adviseur voor TV2, later Canvas. Leuven, daarna werd hij programmamaker voor de Openbare Omroep.
